Arrival in Taiyuan
Overnight · 太原 (Taiyuan)Arrive at Taiyuan Wusu Airport or Taiyuan South Railway Station at any time. A pre-arranged meet-and-greet transfer brings you to the group hotel. No sightseeing or group meal is scheduled today, allowing guests arriving on different services to settle in and rest before guided touring begins the following morning.

南禅寺 (Nanchan Temple) & 佛光寺 (Foguang Temple)
Overnight · 应县 (Yingxian)Travel to the southwestern foothills of Mount Wutai for two of China's defining Tang monuments. Begin with Nanchan Temple's Great Buddha Hall, dated to 782, then continue to Foguang Temple's East Hall and its rare convergence of Tang structure, sculpture, murals and inscriptions. Continue to Ying County for the night.

应县木塔 (Yingxian Wooden Pagoda) & 悬空寺 (Hanging Temple)
Overnight · 大同 (Datong)Continue north to Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the world's tallest surviving pure-timber pagoda, before travelling to the cliff-side Hanging Temple. The contrast between an immense freestanding tower and a compact complex anchored into rock makes this the route's most dramatic structural day.

云冈石窟 (Yungang Grottoes) & 大同古城 (Datong Ancient City)
Overnight · 大同 (Datong)Spend the morning among the monumental Northern Wei caves at Yungang, including the sculptural programmes of Caves 5 and 6 and the open-air Great Buddha of Cave 20. Return to Datong for the city wall and time in the old city before an included group dinner.

华严寺 (Huayan Temple) & 善化寺 (Shanhua Temple)
Departure · 大同 (Datong)Close the journey with Datong’s Liao–Jin Buddhist heritage. Compare Huayan Temple’s architecture and celebrated sculpture with Shanhua Temple’s unusually complete ensemble of Liao and Jin halls. After lunch, transfer to Datong South Railway Station or Datong Yungang Airport.

Move between Chinese specialist vocabulary and clear English explanation, preserving the historical and religious context that literal translation often loses.
The two-person expert team is selected from our specialist roster according to route knowledge, language requirements and departure availability. Assigned team members are confirmed before departure.

Accommodation
In Taiyuan and Datong, we select Luxury or Upper Upscale hotels, including internationally recognised five-star brands where available. In other cities and counties, we select the highest-grade hotels available locally.
Twin or double rooms include a private bathroom. Final hotels are subject to availability and confirmed before booking.
Meals
Eleven meals are included: four breakfasts, four lunches and three dinners. Day 1 is an arrival day with no scheduled group meal; Days 2–4 include breakfast, lunch and dinner; Day 5 includes breakfast and lunch.
Alcoholic beverages are excluded. Vegetarian, halal and other dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
